Our Vision

Our Vision

Visualize a world where accessibility surpasses the baseline ADA-approved checklist. We’ve all sat through the same old outdated office sensitivity and awareness training video. (No Janet, we don’t still use or prefer the word hearing impaired). Instead, imagine expecting world-class experience everywhere you stride into—always leaving feeling seen, understood, and celebrated. Forgetting to call ahead about [fill-in-the-blank] accommodations because you know that your accessibility needs weren’t an afterthought. This is the kind of Accessible, Inclusive, and Cultural shifts we mean when we say changing the narrative.

At For The Deaf Girl and The Deaf Social, we set out to create these safe, accessible, and inclusive spaces in our community for the dDeaf, Hard of Hearing, Disabled, and Chronically Ill Communities. To us, accessibility transcends the necessities.

For The Deaf Girl is an online blog & community that highlights the lives of women with hearing loss. We see dDeafness as a beautiful spectrum, each individual experiencing life and hearing loss in a unique way.

While dDeafness does not define us, we believe it is a core aspect of who we are, and how we view and interact with the world. Addressing this part of our story should be a personal and unique experience, bringing you closer to a sense of self love and acceptance.

Our dream is to connect women of all ages and lifestyles with resources designed to help navigate the hearing world & connect each woman with her inner d/Deaf self and identity.
